The main goal of the course is allowing participants to understand and apply to their own reseach:

- The basic principles of designing experiments and observational studies,

- The software R for analysing their data with appropriate statistical methods and

- To interpret the obtained R outputs and include them properly in MS theses, PhD theses and scientific papers.

The course is about applied statistics. It is neither an introduction to R nor a presentation of the theory behind statistical methods. Special attention will be given to linking together the elements of a research project, from research question to reporting, including design of experiments and observational studies, data preparation, hypotheses to be tested, statistical model, R code and its application, interpretation and presentation of results. Statistical model of Multiple regressions and Analysis of variance will be treated as special cases of the general linear model.
