This course gives an introduction to languages, formalisms and styles available for modeling analog and mixed-signal electronic hardware systems. The course focuses on the use of the VHDL-AMS hardware description language and discusses model examples for a variety of analog and mixed-signal components, namely electrical primitives, operational amplifier, filters, A/D and D/A converters and PLLs. Developement of testbenches including measurements from simulation is also discussed. Finally, overviews of other popular modeling languages such as Verilog-AMS and SystemC-AMS are given.
