Course 4 (Edges) slides 44 - 1D convolution

Hello !
I got somewhat confused by the 1D convolution of slides 43 to 51. I expected to see the mask get reversed and then be used for the convolution (similar to what is shown on slide 40, even though functions are used here). So do we have to flip the kernels before the convolution or not ? And if not, then what is the difference with correlation ?

Thank you in advance, kind regards

Sam
