Hello,

In the solutions of the 2018-2019 exam - problem 1, question 2(b), it says:

"If your subnet mask at the previous question was 255.255.240.0 then any combination of x ∈ {0, 1, ..., 255} and y ∈ {16, 17, ..., 255} is possible."

If the subnet mask is 255.255.240.0 and if x ≠ 9, could we also admit values of y between 0 and 15, that is y ∈ {0, 1, ..., 255} ?

Thank you.

Hello,

You are right! Actually, your solution is already proposed in the answer in the pdf:

“Other possible answers are 10.x.y.7 with x 9 and x {0, 1, ..., 255}.” But it has a typo: second x should be y.

Best,
