Welcome to this PhD course on neutron scattering and resonant X-ray scattering.
Lecturers: Henrik M. Ronnow (EPFL) and Thorsten Schmidt (PSI)
We will cover the fundamentals of neutron scattering, including derivation of scattering cross sections.
We will then look at practical aspects of neutron instrumentation and different types of neutron experiments.
The last 3-4 lectures of the course will be on resonant X-ray scattering, which is a complementary technique to investigate magnetic and electronic correlations and excitations in materials.
For the neutron part, we will use lecture notes by Kim Lefmann at University of Copehagen.
