Dear students,

The POCS midterm will take place Thursday, November 4, from 13:15 to 15:00. Here are a few points regarding logistics:

  • As per EPFL rules, the exam will be in-person, in room INM010. It cannot be taken online. A COVID pass is required. In the absence of vaccination, a free saliva test can enable you to get a temporary pass (see here).
  • Please come to the exam early enough to settle in, make sure your machine is on WiFi, etc. Don’t forget to budget time in case there is a Covid pass check. Bring your CAMIPRO card.
  • There are several outlets in the room, but not enough for everyone to plug in simultaneously. Please bring your laptop fully charged, and don't forget your power cord, in case you need it.
  • The exam will be on Moodle, similar in format to the in-class quiz you took two weeks ago. Remember to click Submit for your work to be recorded. You may submit multiple times any time before the deadline, and you can go back and modify a submission before the deadline. We will grade your last submission.
  • You are free to use any resource that you bring with you, either stored locally on your laptop or as printed paper. You may bring along a tablet in addition to your laptop. You are not allowed to use the network during the exam for anything but access to the POCS Moodle. You are not permitted to interact with or receive or give any assistance for the exam except with/from the course staff. Please cite all resources you use that are not POCS course materials or were not prepared by you in the context of this class. Using such resources without citing them in the exam constitutes plagiarism.
  • During the exam, if any question is unclear, please raise your hand, and one of us will come to help you. Read each question carefully. You need to provide a correct answer to the correct question in order to receive full credit. A correct answer to a wrong or misinterpreted question will not earn credit.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday. Good luck!
