Lab4 Question 15

Hello,

We modified links cost in order to make messages from h2 to h4 go trough r1. That did not work as expected: messages from h2 to h4 went through r3. r3 and r5 are in the same sub-network and in our configuration h2-r3-r2-h4 is shorter than h4-r5-r4-r1-r2-h4, but r5 is the default router of h2. So is it a normal behavior for a message not to go through the sender DR if the path is shorter or is there an issue in our network configuration?

Thank you in advance

Hello,

The goal of Part 5.2 is to modify links cost to make messages from h4 to h2 go through r1 and not from h2 to h4.

There are three paths to go from h4 to h2, so if you want to go through r1, the other paths will have an higher cost.

Hope this helps,

Stephan.
