There are two general ways to participate in a lab session:

  • In person by coming to INF2 or INF3
  • Online via Zoom

If you participate in person:

  • Go to INF2 if you want to work on your own laptop.
  • Go to INF3 if you want to use the servers that are there.

Either way, if you have a question, raise your hand.

If you participate online:

  • Join the Zoom session at 15h15.
  • Feel free to listen in to any discussion going on in the main session.
  • If you have a question, you have two options:
    (a) Raise your hand, in which case you will be served as soon as the current discussion going on in the main session finishes.
    (b) Chat "breakout", in which case you will be served as soon as a teacher is available to take you to a separate breakout room.
  • Note: It is possible that there is no teacher in the main session at the moment -- they are all in breakout rooms answering questions.

Here is the protocol that the teaching team will follow:

  • Join the Zoom session at 15h00.
  • When you become available, check the participants and the chat.
  • If a student has chatted "breakout", that means they want to ask a question in a breakout room.
Chat their name, then take them to a breakout room, and engage them.
  • If a student has raised their hand, that means they want to ask a question in the main session.
If there is no active discussion in the main session, help them immediately, otherwise wait for the discussion to finish (check the chat for breakout requests, in the meantime).
As soon as you can help them, call their name, lower their hand, and engage them.
  • Note: If there is no active discussion in the main session, and a student makes a breakout request, encourage them to ask in the main session instead.
