Shape from contours

Shape from contours

Hi, why are the silhouettes of visual hull for sure inside the original silhouettes? (my question is regarding both the "in theory" and "in practice" parts"). Can't they be outside the original silhouettes? for example, in the second image I attached, we can see that they are outside the original silhouettes.

thanks in advance,

Hello,
The visual hull is inside each silhouette because it is the INTERSECTION of them.
In the second image on the left, what is shown is that the real object (blue) is strictly within the silhouettes' intersection (grey), and that concavities are lost.

Best,
Benoit
