"Computers and Music" is an advanced digital signal processing class focusing on the acquisition, manipulation and synthesis of audio signals. The course will address a variety of topics including quantization, filtering, compression, spatialization and more. The approach is eminently hands-on, in the sense that we will use Python notebooks to illustrate the key ideas behind many of the topics in the syllabus. You will be expected to code your own examples and adopt a "reproducible research" mindset. The course will feature a number of guest lectures from researchers and practitioners in the field.
