Mock quizz, question 15-16

Dear TAs,

Could you please share the solution to questions 15 and 16 ?

My reasoning is the following :

There are N-3 tokens when m^4 are actually possible. Thus, the parameter of the Dirichlet prior should be a vector of size m^4.

Thus, for words that do not occur, the MLE should be : α / (m^4 * α + (N-3))

yes you're right : see today's hands-on.
Maybe you asked the question because Moodle (at least the way we used it in 2019) is a bit picky about regexps for formulas and also has issues with respect to the character α.
We now try to avoid such ambiguous cases. And in any case, I'll do manual validation of all the (wrong) answers, correcting the automatic grade where needed.
Finally, if you have any concern, you can come to me (the week after, so that I have time to do the above mentioned review).
