Hello!

In exercises of week 8 we can find:

"Another reason for over-generation is that PPs do not combine with adjectives occurring before a noun. For instance: the looking at the mouse cat is black is incorrect in english"

The only adjective I can find is the word "black" but it doesn't occur before a noun.

Thank you in advance!

The "adjective" you miss is "looking", views as an Adjective because of the rule Adj --> Ving.
What we meant is that "looking at the mouse" (which is a Adj + PP) shall not play the role of a (complex/composed) Adjective in English, but does so with this grammar.
Makes more sense?
